New Glaze

Part of my studio time last week was spent experimenting with new glaze recipes. I found one glaze which I just absolutely love so I had to share it.

It’s a rich flowing blue and breaks at the edges into a nice bronze colour. (photo below).

Earthenware Glaze

I can’t wait to start using it.

It’s not exactly what I was looking for but it’s probably better. I was trying to make a glaze which came from my ‘one off bin’; each time I experiment with new glazes I tip them into a bucket when I’m done giving a random ever changing glaze which cannot be repeated. I liked this month’s so much I tried to give it a go, trying to remember what I had put in it recently; I obviously missed something and I’m glad I did because this is the outcome.

Over the next few weeks I’m going to be experimenting with more new glazes, perhaps some reds, oranges, and yellows as I am very aware that most of my work uses greens and blues. Next on the list is a lavender. More on that later; have to keep some surprises don’t I.
